Christmas Pins Past and Present by Jill C. Gallina

Since the early 20th Century the most popular form of vintage Christmas costume jewelry in the has been the tree pin. Usually made of gold-tone metal and featuring red and green rhinestones, tree pins wish everyone you meet a Merry Christmas.
But there are so many other options besides trees!   Reindeer, Santa Claus, wreathes and Elves, stockings, ginger bread boys.  The list goes on.

Author Jill Gallina's book, Christmas Pins Past and Present,
would be an ideal Christmas gift for anyone interested n vintage Christmas Jewelry There are many  creative uses for these festive gems.  My Aunt had a large felt Christmas tree she hung on the wall.  It was her advent calendar.  Each day from the first to the 25th of December we kids were allowed to take turns pinning a jewel to it.  My personal favorite was a rhinestone encrusted Rudolph.
Naturally the star went on the top.  We kids drew straws to see who was allowed to have the thrill of adding the last "ornament."

And so dear readers,
 please chime in.
What ideas do you have for using
Vintage Christmas brooches? Do you pin them to
children's stockings? Or possibly you
tie your Christmas dinner napkins with red satin ribbons, and attach a different bauble to each one.  What a lovely tradition that would be.

A Smart Fox Has Two Holes

Did I say Gertrude?
I totally meant Murgatroyd.
But isn't that a hard name to remember?
Maybe it should be MerGertrude.
which, as a nickname would be Gertrude.
Which would make my blog
entry perfectly sensible.
I knew it was....
YO MERGATROYD!!
CHIME IN HERE!!  I MISS YOU.
and yet I kinda' don't.
When you start chiming in I'll look
like an illiterate goof-face-dunce.
I hate when that happens.
I prefer literate goof-face-dunce.

Vintage Babe?

We went out to dinner last night.  I found out I really am a Vintage Babe.
 Or maybe just Vintage.
The waiter told me I look like someone.  When I was in college I was always told,
"You look just like Mia Farrow!"

Which was good, right?  Mia was cute enough to catch Andre Previn and Frank Sinatra.
We won't go into her Woody Allen years.
So, I thought, "Wow it's been YEARS since I've heard THIS!"
I nodded knowingly, put on my best Mia big eyed wondering look, and said,
"Oh really?  Who would that be?"
Eyelash bat bat bat

But NOOOOO, it wasn't Mia and Me-a' anymore.
It was......Drum Roll Please....

Carol Burnett!
The Yodeler....
And so dear fan base, it's official.
I'm vintage, drop the "babe."
(If only I could yodel.)

Okay Murgatroyd, who did/do you look like?
And I welcome our many followers---all none of you---to chime in.
Who was/is your look-a-like?

Naming this baby

So me and Murgatroyd decided to start a blog.
We both own very cool and interesting Etsy shops.
Hers  GladysGlover
Mine  BeatriceBeeVintage

Murgs is into lamps, finials, and she writes the best descriptions.  She's a published novelist, the big show off.
I am into pretty much everything else.
My house looks like a hoarder lives here.  Mostly I like to shop for the shop.

Murgatroyd suggested names for the blog.  I picked one and went off and running.

Then she wanted to change the name.

I think she said
TWO WARPED BALLS VINTAGE.
But I'm deaf.  She may have said
TOO PARKED CALLS LINTAGE

Doesn't matter, Murgatroyd.  I don't know how to rename the blog.
So we go with this.  Deal with it
